I was walking the shore along the sea of cortez I was walking the shore along the sea of cortez Dreaming about you and living in the past A preacher told me I was heading for sin Preacher told me I was heading for sin Now I’m knocking on heaven’s door baby let me in It might be right it might be wrong But I want back in your arms Tell me now what can I do, can I get down on bended knee for you The darkest hour is just before the dawn Darkest hour is just before dawn But every hours been dark baby since you been gone I’m knocking now baby let me in I’m knocking now baby let me in If you don’t open up, never gonna see me again Chorus Repeat verse one

Pick me up by my boot straps, stand me on the floor I’ve been on that barstool since half past for You might think I’d call her, on that telephone But that ship sailed a long time ago Whiskey in the morning, pills in the afternoon Feels like I’m flying up to the moon I could try staying sober, honey baby don’t you know But that ship sailed a long long time ago Life ain’t nothing but a party, that ends to soon You might call me crazy and it might be true But the man in that jukebox is telling me no lies If George Jones can do it, so can I You know who’s pissing on my parade, ain’t nothing I can do It’s the politicians and the bankers, we all are screwed Always talking reform, but that’s just smoke they blow That ship sailed a long time ago Chorus Pick me up by my bootstraps, stand me on the floor I was on that barstool at half past four You might think I could change, the way that I roll But that ship sailed a long time ago Yeah that ship sailed a long long time ago That ship sailed a long time ago

Last night in dreams, I dreamt of you In my arms, you did lay And I held you, till the break of dawn Till morning sun, lit the glistening dew When I awoke, I was alone And sadness ringed, my heart in tones Dark and somber, broken and cold Morning held, no light for me, Morning held, no light for me Dreaming of you, Dreaming of me x3 There is no joy, greater than you In my arms, real and tender There I long, for you to be But not in dreams, that night does render Dreaming of you, Dreaming of me x3 When now to sleep, I dread to go Where the dark will come, and haunt me so I wrestle sleep, till I no more can fight For alone I’ll be, by the morning light Dreaming of you, Dreaming of me x3

Well the west side woman, they sure look fine they come around, right on time hips all swaying but take my advice if you're thinking about stepping boy, you better think twice Just look at old Lewi, he fell behind he lost his money and then his mind if you want to go playing, you gotta pay the price if you're thinking about stepping, boy, you better think twice BRIDGE: Some say that things ain't what they used to be but most things never change as far as i can see Maybe it's a case of do or die when you see that cherry pie its only natural to wanna get you a slice but if you're thinking about stepping, boy you better think twice

Sometimes she’s a wrecking ball, needs to level old buildings that once loomed tall She’s no dove in morning light; she’s a hawk talons out in a downward flight And she rolls right over everything in sight She just needs to let it out, wave her arms and swing about Scream and shout and I’m her wall And she’s my wrecking ball I listen to her breathe at night, She’s quiet, peaceful and sleeping tight I know she dreams of days gone by, old buildings she’s slain and tears she’s cried And there’s no place I’d rather be than by her side. Chorus… Bridge: Now she is sweet and she is kind Don't get me wrong she don’t like to fight She just sometimes needs to swing wild Kick and punch the air like a hurt child And all I can do is pick her up when she falls Chorus

The child is running wild The rain is coming down Aint no way to know, where we’re gonna go The child is running wild The fools are on the hill Gluttons never gets their fill The masters of war, always courting more The fools are on the hill I have a song I could sing and I know a story I would tell Tomorrow never knows, which way its gonna go On a road to heaven or to hell Love is what we need When we strip down to the bone and the seed A light in the dark, a single shining spark Love is all we need Chorus
8.
Give me my medicine, Lord knows it ain’t no sin Give me my medicine, can’t you see the shape I’m in Went to see old doctor kind, way up on the Metro line He said you’ll be doing fine, my medicine work everytime Doctor said be good to me, baby bring me something sweet You got the cure I need, I’m here on bended knee Give me my medicine, Lord knows it ain’t no sin Give me my medicine, can’t you see the shape I’m in Baby Baby where you been, got to have my medicine Baby baby where you been, walking that thin line again When it rains it pours they say, levee broke at the break of day Life and limb swept away but the medicine is here to stay Give me my medicine, Lord knows it ain’t no sin Give me my medicine, can’t you see the shape I’m in Give me my medicine, give me my medicine, give me my medicine Can’t you see the shape I’m in

My daddy was a rover, a hard workingman Used to drag me along, and he made me what I am He was not a greedy man but he could sure do you in Watched my daddy work his magic and fly I was born on the lam and that’s where I’m gonna stay If I keep moving they won’t catch me till my dying day If you know the secret to life won’t you please let me know Lord it feels like I’m gonna die young, When I was a poor boy used to rob them fast running trains One hand on a pistol and the other on the throttle and the reigns I am not a greedy man but I will sure do you in Like my daddy work my magic and fly When I die I’m goin to heaven maybe I’m goin down below Wherever I end up I’m sure to find my old man waiting though We’ll raise some hell wherever we are bound Lord cause we got magic and we fly (x2)

It's hard to find a honky tonk the way they used to be Merle on the jukebox singing about Lefty Them old familiar songs I used to hear about swinging doors, broken hearts and crying in your beer chorus: when the road went on forever and the partied never end the orange blossom special was coming around the bend but the steam brake just broke and she's run clean off the track I hope someday we can find a way to bring country back I was only calling lonesome an old flame i used to know jazz cigarettes and tangueray made me dial the phone searching for her friendly voice to whisper in my ear take me by the hand and walk me back through the years when the road went on forever and the partied never end the orange blossom special was coming around the bend the simple way of living, is really where its at I hope someday we can find a way to bring country back

Set Me Free 03:53
Never was there something, I wanted half as bad As you this morning, you were the best I ever had, best I ever had But there ain’t no tomorrows, maybe no yesterdays Traveling on this old road, living my own way, living for today Tell me now if I’m right or wrong Show me something that lasts long Out on this old highway I’m all alone The road keeps going down that line It ain’t to hard to find, straight as a preacher and longer than a memory Set me free Bridge: Don’t know where I’ll end my day, Time is but a memory Bitter sweet so it suits my mind, God only knows what I’ll find On a road faded like dusk and youth, haunted by the past and truth But the daylights broken so its time to go And I’m sitting in this diner, waiting on a bite to eat Staring off to no place, as if life were a dream, as if life were a dream And I see freaks going by the window, and I wonder where they go If only one could tell me now, all I need to know, all I want to know Tell me now if I’m right or wrong Show me something that lasts long Out on this old highway I’m on my own The road keeps going on down that line It ain’t to hard to find, straight as a preacher, longer than a memory Set me free Set me free, set me free, set me free, set me, free, free, free, set me free free free

A Weary Soul 04:22
I rolled them sevens like I’d nothing to lose I’ve been alone on this old highway, and I’ve seen the blues Nothing but surrender in the cards tonite And a long dark road to the morning light I’m a weary soul trying to keep faith My hearts grown heavy and unsteady with the weight Will tomorrow come like so many days before Will I find myself, Down on the floor Begging that old devil to call off his dogs Praying up to heaven bring me back home I’m a weary soul trying to keep faith My heart grows heavy and unsteady with the wait Solo break Bridge: Someone tell my story When I am dead and gone Tell it true Embellish it some Let the truth be told, for I’ve no shame Tell my story So my life is not in vain I tell it now before it’s too late Well I can’t remember what I was trying to say Am I just an old fool on a lost highway Surrendering the miles to the dark tonight Trying to make it to tomorrows light I’m a weary soul trying to keep the faith My hearts grown heavy and unsteady with the weight Chorus: And I want to believe I can find my release I can walk from here in peace Or in pieces if need be When the dark recedes. (or in pieces if need be)

about

The Old Yellers 6th studio album. After their smash hit with the all acoustic and very stripped down "Ten From Town", the band follows up this success with another amazing album that leans towards a more rocking Outlaw Country sound. Night In Dayville is a throw back to old school classic Outlaw Country and features an amazing array of original songs guaranteed to make you sing, cry, love and want to do it all over again. The album blends seamless rock and roll, country and a truly groovy vibe that never fails to please. It also features a number of fine ballads that pull on the heart strings and make you think and feel like you are right there living in each song.
